Security for Hosts

At SpotMe, your safety and well-being are our priority. We adhere to a protocol to provide you the service you deserve while fostering your trust in us and other Renters.

Before approving a potential Renter's booking request, we recommend checking their profile; you can obtain more information in their biography.


Communication and payments through SpotMe

To keep you and the Renter secure and for us to be readily available to assist you in any scenario, we request that you keep all communication on our platform and exclusively accept payments via SpotMe.

This way, you can benefit from the safeguards provided by our Terms of Service, Host Guarantee, and Cancellation and Refund Policy.


Stripe Security

Stripe is our PCI-compliant payment gateway, and it is used by thousands of merchants worldwide, including companies such as Amazon and Facebook.

This payment gateway uses state-of-the-art security tools and practices for the safety of the Host, Renter, and SpotMe.

With Stripe, SpotMe does not store personal information on our platform.


Host Responsibilities

Our Terms of Service state that Hosts are not responsible for any damages that may occur to the belongings stored on their property unless they have acted negligently or directly caused the damage.


Host Payment Protection

In rare cases where a Renter fails to pay or defaults, SpotMe guarantees up to two months of payment to the Host while the items remain in their spot.

What happens if my Renter stops paying?

We will contact you and the Renter, and in accordance with our Payment Protection Policy, SpotMe will take care of the missing payments.

When are the Renter's items auctioned?

If the Renter leaves their items on your property, the SpotMe team will contact you after the Renter has completed the pending payment.

We will provide assistance with the next steps, and if necessary, facilitate conditions for an online auction.

  • You will be asked to take 4 to 6 photos of the abandoned items and send them to SpotMe within 5 days of the initial request. You must refrain from touching or moving the Renter's belongings.
  • Unless the SpotMe team notifies you that the Renter has already paid, you must restrict access to the space.
  • The auction is 100% online, so there is no need to be physically present until the new owner comes to collect the purchased items.
  • You will receive your final payment once all items are removed from your spot and the auction closes.
  • Once the entire process is concluded, your accommodation will be available again and listed on SpotMe.


Do I need special permission to rent out my space on SpotMe?

No. SpotMe does not require any permits or licenses to list your spots, and it is your responsibility to ensure you have full permission to rent out those spaces.
